Revolutionary user-generated content site wins 'Mobile Innovation' award

SeeMeTV from 3 and Yospace wows Mobile Entertainment Awards
London - May 2006
3 and Yospace have scooped the Mobile Innovation award at the Mobile Entertainment Awards (MEFFYs). They claimed the prize for SeeMeTV, 3's user-generated content site, which puts mobile phone users in the director's chair.

SeeMeTV, designed and operated by Yospace, has grown phenomenally since its launch in October 2005, with between one and two million downloads each month. Any 3 customer can submit a video clip which will fit into one of several themed categories on the service. Clips are then moderated and visitors to the site can browse and download the videos to their handset, at a cost of 10p per clip. When a clip is downloaded, the service credits the user who submitted the clip, so users can earn cash from their videos. Over £100,000 has been earned by users since the launch.

"See Me TV has been an instant success - it's our customers' channel and they're making it their own," said Graeme Oxby, 3's marketing director. "We're seeing the emergence of a new breed of mobile entrepreneur earning cash regularly from their stunt or party piece."

"The robust and scalable infrastructure implemented by Yospace means there is no limit to the directions we can take this service," he continued.

"Content generated by mobile phones has an immediacy that no other medium can capture," said David Springall, CTO, Yospace. "SeeMeTV has revolutionised the content market - people can now upload content in an instant; submitting their footage into a marketplace to which millions of people have access."
